GIVENCHY NAMES MATTHEW WILLIAMS NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR

American designer Matthew M. Williams is the new creative director of Givenchy.
The founder of the 1017 Alyx 9SM label, known for his ability to interpret the luxury streetwear scene, with an edgy, innovative hand, starts his new role at the storied French house today, June 16. He will oversee the men’s and women’s collections
According to various press reports, the designer, who worked with Kanye West and Lady Gaga in the early stages of his career, wants his tenure to be modern and inclusive, sending a message of change and positivity in this difficult moment.
He replaces Clare Waight Keller, who left in April after three years at the helm of Givenchy. Most recently he collaborated with Nike, Moncler and Dior, revealing a sharp vision and versatile fashion sense imbued with an artsy talent and strong cultural background.
