ELEMENTAL FUNCTION, HARMONIOUS FORMS: 5 MONCLER CRAIG GREEN

The language developed by Craig Green for Moncler Genius is basic and straightforward – interpreting outdoorsy, mainly mountain-inspired clothing in a forward-looking manner. This mantra is at the heart of the new collection, designed for the warmer season to mirror how people’s relation with being outdoors has changed over the last year. The selection celebrates this renewed freedom of connection with the elements, defined by a new monogram that traces thick coiling lines, which encapsulate the logo to zoomorphic effect. Purposely ambiguous, it could be a platypus or a frog. Smooth and flowing, it represents nature’s symmetrical structures and harmony with the environment. Throughout, Green maintains a pragmatic approach on manufacturing and function through an intensely imaginative vision. Keeping practicality and wearability firmly in mind, his pieces hint at the worlds of utility and uniform. Zip-up windbreakers and jackets come in lightweight cottons and nylons. Uniform jackets are cut in sturdy cottons and paired with chinos. Shiny, ripstop nylons, in a palette of muddy tones with highlights of red, yellow, orange, tangerine, electric blue, are quintessentially Moncler. As always, contrasts rule - transparent/opaque, quilted/plain, matt/glossy – in a balance of water and land.
