NEW BRAND: NEOUS SHOES

Inspired by modern art and the Bauhaus movement, shoe brand Neous is hinged on a less-is-more aesthetic where details make the difference. Founder and creative director Vanissa Antonious draws from her art history education, redefining restraint and integrity in design and production. Translated into shoes that means Made in Italy craftsmanship that gives each style architecturally sound block heels and easy elevation, characterized by signature elements such as the wood and Perspex sphere heel and the organic leather featuring ripples and folds. A mismatch of textures bonds wood, lattice and leather in an evolving palette of cream, banana, brick, navy and black are interpretation of classic hues. All the materials spanning from supple calfskin to hand-woven macramé are sourced in Italy. The leather is selected by hand for its uniqueness, tonal nuances and variations in marks or veins. For F/W 2020, the Bauhaus school continues to be a source of inspiration culling from the work of Lilly Reich, the female director of Bauhaus weaving workshop and interior studio. Hence the flex and curve of Reich’s golden cane-work which inspired the hand-woven leather heels and crisscross straps that symmetrically wrap around the foot.
