Chitose Abe's school uniform in Japan was the starting point for the Sacai Pre-Spring 2024 collection. Inspired by her school days, the designer created an upbeat DIY-like collection featuring patchwork, irregular folds, splicing, and off-kilter hemlines, accentuated by bold, punchy colors.
Against-the-grain tailoring is reflected in hybrid tweed and cotton gabardine suits while bomber jackets are cleverly manipulated. Puff sleeves abound, classic stripes shirts are revisited with bold inserts, while a touch of punk adds a Seventies vibe. Once more, Abe proves a master of contrasts, reworking the expected with unexpectedness.
