SPECIAL WINDOWS: ALANUI @ANTONIA MILANO
Jan 09, 2019
The intricacy and wholesome feel of Alanui takes center stage at Antonia with a special window display that highlights the new SS 2019 season and a collaboration with polyhedric L.A-based designer Greg Lauren. The latter mixes the relaxed, laid-back Californian attitude with the Italian eye for detail, style and expertise. Filled with the typical easy-does-it L.A flair, the iconic Alanui cardigans have been deconstructed and re-assembled into eight great standalone pieces - coats, field jackets, hoodies and track pants - topped by a distinctive colorful and wholesome feel.
“I immediately felt a connection with Alanui, seeing the American Southwest influence through the eyes of an Italian designer, and made with such beautiful level of Italian craftsmanship. It was a natural fit for my artisanal approach, reimagining the familiar in a new way, introducing new silhouettes, repurposed fabrics, to create a new vocabulary,” said Greg Lauren.
Creating unexpected and eye-catching mash-ups, Alanui’s luxe cashmeres are partnered with aged canvas and ripped denim while precious jacquards and patterns are mismatched into irreverent patchworks.
“What I love most of this collection is the experimental approach given to each piece. Seeing our key items as the Icon and New Icon cardigans and Baja hoodies being reinterpreted with a renovated vibe is very exciting. New cuts, innovative combination of material and fabrics showed us the infinite possibilities that belong to clothes,” contends Carlotta Oddi, creative soul of Alanui.
The new season, instead, is a road trip across the lands and iconographies of New Mexico, following the Turquoise Trail from Albuquerque to Santa Fe with a nod to Giorgia O’Keeffe.
