FEVER PITCH: PHARRELL X ADIDAS RACE FOOTBALL CLUBS

Opponents on the field, united in style. The tie-up between Adidas and Humanrace launches a line of ultra-cool jerseys inspired by the glorious memories and adrenalin-rushed moments in the world’s top football clubs - Arsenal, FC Bayern Munich, Juventus, Manchester United, and Real Madrid. This buzzy project brings together the clubs for the first time in a shared celebration of the human spirit. Co-designed with Humanrace Creative Director and long-term Adidas collaborator Pharrell Williams, each jersey honors the past of these storied clubs, with their legacies serving as the foundations of the design process. Driven by Humanrace’s ethos, the high-tech garments are realized through a raw-edged and hand-painted aesthetic veering from stripes to zigzag to splotches with blurry, tie-dyed effects. The artistic approach spreads to the intricate signature details, from club crests to partner logos, again reimagined with a painterly feel to create a unified look. “History is what shapes the future, and sometimes in order to look forwards, first we need to look back. The most important part of the process with this collection was to learn of each club’s legacies and how each defining moment of their histories were captured and preserved from a design perspective. Each of the new jerseys are symbols of the five club’s legacies and a true celebration of the universality of sport,” says Pharrell Williams. More on each jersey: Arsenal From the archives, Williams selected one of the most recognised kits from the London club’s history - the ‘bruised banana’ jersey from 1991. FC Bayern Munich Inspired by the red home shirt worn by FC Bayern Munich from 1991-93, Williams reinvented the jersey for a new generation of fans. Juventus For Juventus, the team picked the pink shirt from the 2015-16 season, also the first season of the adidas and Juventus partnership. Manchester United Continuing the five-club collaboration, Pharrell’s remixed Manchester United jersey started from the club’s iconic snowflake blue and white print, first seen on the 1990-92 away kit. Real Madrid The new Real Madrid jersey was born from Yohji Yamamoto’s, a friend and collaborator of Williams, striking dragon design of the 2014-15 season. Arsenal, Manchester United and Real Madrid will wear the new designs on pitch during warm up from October 24, while Juventus will don theirs in-match on October 25. FC Bayern Munich will sport their new gear in the next knock out game of their domestic cup.
