LAURENCE DACADE - THE DESIGINER BEHIND THE HOT LABEL

According to Laurence Dacade, shoes are the foundation to make a woman more beautiful, glamourous, feminine and unique. “The shoe is not only an object made for walking but it’s also an experimental tool of freedom,” contends the French designer, who launched her namesake line in 2003. Dacade found her calling at 14, when she purchased her first pair of shoes with her pocket money - red and blue striped ballerinas with a big bow. Voilà, it was the beginning of a love affair that soon turned into a solid profession. Eager to mix form and function, Dacade trained at the AFPIC School. Her understanding of construction, as well as her passion for feminine, sensual shoes, make her shoes sexy and comfortable. Because, as she puts it, there is "no need to suffer for beauty".
At once chic and funky, feminine and quirky, Dacade’s shoes are inspired by a melting pot of cultures. Always on the go, she reveals how watching people as they move through airports and train stations sparks her creativity. Her collections, which she compares to a family, offer a wide range of styles, details and heights. “The shoes are not all the same. Some are sexy and tall, some are chunky and funky. But, like families, they all live under one roof,” she says. Similarly, she believes that shoes express a woman’s mood since teetering around in 10-cm heels sets off a completely different attitude that walking around in flats. "Shoes, like jewelry, are very sensual objects. My goal is to make shoes for Cinderella, but sexy, with a French touch, " muses Dacade.
