As gentle as a spring breeze, the new Zimmermann collection evokes a dreamy sense of fun infused with the brand’s signature touch of nostalgia reworked for today. Australian designer and co-founder Nicky Zimmermann created a lineup of romantic, flouncy summer staples, many adorned with a boho flair and retro floral prints. Most styles are named Super Eight simply because Zimmermann’s collection was inspired by old Super 8 films of her family in different leisurely occasions, from hanging out together or with friends at home or by the ocean. A carefree, happy and glowering mood transposed onto the clothes. The lineup’s dualism balances painterly prints, in the shape of belted prairie skirts, tiered and ruffled dresses and blouses and scalloped shorts, with solids as in a pristine pussy-bow white blouses, a rust safari mini dress and a stand-collared buttoned in sky-blue. Launched in 1991 by sisters Nicky and Simone Zimmermann, this Sydney-based brand has certainly stayed true to its original vision: sophisticated femininity, a passion for detail and a love of color and print. In its early stages, Zimmermann took the bold step of fusing fashion with swimwear, immediately creating a new point of reference in flattering, feminine and stylish swimwear.
