Very impressive. In only one year, Amina Muaddi has shot to the top of fashion’s Mount Olympus, dubbed the footwear designer who makes some of the world’s hottest women’s shoes. According to FN, in fact, the label’s shoes ranked as the number 2 most-searched women’s product on Lyst’s fourth-quarter index of the world’s hottest fashion brands and products, second only to Gucci’s GG logo belt. Today’s most in-demand footwear designer, the Paris-based Muaddi grew up between Jordan, Romania and Italy. She quickly learned how to interpret the whims of tastemakers around the world, successfully striking that perfect blend of effortless glamour, impeccable craftsmanship and fashion-forward style. Designed in Paris, produced in Italy, her fanciful shoes channel a new freshness with a timeless quality and international heart. So, it’s no surprise that her success was accelerated by world-class star Rihanna, who not only is a huge fan but also enlisted Muaddi to help her with the shoe designs for her luxury Maison Fenty, scheduled to drop in July. A graduate of the European Institute of Design in Milan who cut her teeth with styling stints for L’Uomo Vogue and GQ US, she later found her calling designing shoes that were the perfect expression of her creative vision. She challenged herself to learn her new trade from the essentials, taking off to the Riviera del Brenta, Italy’s storied shoe-making district. Here, she worked with world-class artisans and suppliers to develop each and every one of her shoes’ 40-50 components.
