BALENCIAGA F/W 2016 AD CAMPAIGN

Forget high-wattage celebs and picture-perfect imagery. For his first ad campaign, Balenciaga’s artistic director Demna Gvasalia kept it real, tapping photographer Mark Borthwick to shoot a reportage-style couture mood on the streets of Paris in a spontaneous everyday setting. To obtain the feel, a crop of models who walked in Gvasalia’s debut show, took to the streets carrying out every day actions such as having a coffee, waiting for a bus, rushing down the streets, or reflected in the rear mirror of a truck. Besides a number of colorfully striped nylon bags, the clothes included a wide range of looks, from plaid pea coats to puffers to folkish layers worn over teetering heels, both chunky and skinny. A mix of energy and style at its best.
