GUCCI TO SHOW CRUISE 2020 IN ROME

Gucci will show its Cruise 2020 fashion show in May in Rome against an awe-inspiring setting – the Capitoline Museums. The choice reflects Alessandro Michele’s ongoing fascination with history and is in line with the former soaked-in-the-past locations, including the Cloisters of Westminster Abbey in London, the Palatine Gallery at Pitti Palace in Florence, and a Roman necropolis in Arles, France. The Musei Capitolini are located on the Piazza del Campidoglio and are the result of the donation of a collection of valuable bronzes by Pope Sixtus IV in 1471 to the citizens of Rome, making them the oldest museums in the world. They consist of two imposing buildings located on the square - the Palazzo dei Conservatori and the Palazzo Nuovo – that house ancient sculptures, mostly Roman but also Greek and Egyptian, as well as an extensive collection of coins, medals, and jewelry.
