Oh, what a mess. The latest news regarding the formats and dates of the international fashion
calendars are the perfect sign of the Covid-19 times.
Shortly after Milan announced its first digital fashion week, scheduled from July 14-17, Paris turned
things around with the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode unveiling an online showcase for Paris to be held from July 9 to 13. It will be centered on films and videos to present the SS 2021 men’s collection.
Traditionally, Paris has always closed fashion show season, after New York, London, and Milan. Now it will precede Milan.
Organized by the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Milano Digital Fashion Week will showcase SS 2021 men’s collection’s together with women’s and men’s pre-collections for next spring. Regulated by an official calendar, each house, designer, and brand can opt for a personalized format that can span from films to backstage footage, from exclusive shoots to virtual showrooms.
Certainly, replacing the iconic physical runways, and all the carousel, hype and glitz that surround them, is a work-in-progress challenge destined to be shaped by the events of the upcoming months.
