SPECIAL PROJECTS: MAISON VALENTINO TAKES OVER ANTONIA MILANO
Sep 15, 2021
In celebration of the Valentino Act collection, we have joined forces with the storied Maison Valentino for an exclusive eye-catching window installation, running from today until Sept. 21.
The display evokes the location chosen by Pierpaolo Piccioli, Valentino's Creative Director, to unveil his collection earlier this year: the landmark Piccolo Teatro di Milano. A bold move and a daring invitation to aggregation at a time when theaters and cinemas were among the many activities forced to close down due to the health pandemic.
Inside the Piccolo Teatro di Milano, a symbol of a conscious and progressive way of making culture, Piccioli unfurled a blockbuster collection, at once sensual and romantic, infused with a subtle retro undercurrent but never nostalgic.
In that light, soft Latex curtains in deep red frame the Antonia Milano windows, parted or centrally cut-out to reveal the store's interiors and the awe-inspiring lineup of clothes and accessories, delivered in a tight palette of white and black with a hint of gentle blush pink.
Piccioli's silhouettes are mostly short, hoisted over high heels or big boots. Crisp white shirts are a gender-neutral staple, ruffled bib fronts add a romantic touch to sheer black while men’s trousers are cut above the ankle. Pleated mini skirts feature new proportions while Piccioli's expertise transformed peacoats and jackets into capes.
The interiors offer a striking atmosphere that seamlessly fuses the world of Act, with the world of Rockstud Alcove, a seductive new line of Valentino Garavani accessories launched for Fall, intricately lined in red nappa, and the new iconic Valentino Garavani Stud Sign bag, the latest interpretation of the Maison’s re-signification process.
