GUCCI RESORT 2019

Held at nighttime at the Alyscamps, a Roman necropolis in Arles, in the South of France, the Gucci Resort 2019 show was an awe-inspiring spectacle that blended the old and the new wrapped in a celestial, spiritual beauty. Clouds of smoke, rows of candles, fire and Claudio Monteverdi's “Vespers for the Blessed Virgin” created a unique, surreal experience that further set off the clothes, a mix of Alessandro Michele's signature plaid skirts, floral silk prints and tiger patterns, plus dollops of velvet, moiré silks, lace and fur, often delicately or lavishly embroidered and sequined.
