Moncler’s latest tie-up is with visionary designer Jonathan W. Anderson whose sense of elegance is notoriously infused with subversiveness. His pieces are pure and architectural, interpreted in a genderless manner to underscore his original fashion vision. For Moncler Genius, Anderson reimagines his most iconic designs, inflating archival pieces such as the Riviera hat and ruffled shorts, rendered in duvet to create a new take on signatures.
Meant to be worn indistinctly by men and women, the collection is playful and lively. Zip-up blousons with padded zip-pullers, puffy scarves, wide-brimmed hats and shorts serve as the season’s building blocks with sculptural motifs such as embossed dots and protruding spikes adding a quirky 3D effect. Red, light blue, yellow, pink, black, white and navy are worked in monochromatic blocks or in contrasting layers, elevated by a play of matte-shiny finishes. And still, rural meets urban with duck prints swarming on long sleeveless duvets worn over double-faced coats. Trench coats and military-style knits with patch pockets complete the line-up, which is accessorized with packable boots and padded bags with padded chain details.
