TOGA Archives and Asics introduce the GEL-CUMULUS™ 16, a sneaker that merges trail-running heritage with the avant-garde aesthetic of the Japanese brand founded by Yasuko Furuta in 1997.
The design draws inspiration from Nunobiki, a botanical garden in Kobe known for its waterfalls and lush vegetation. The sneaker revisits elements from the early-2000s GEL-KAHANA 3 and GEL-TARGET models, reinterpreted through a layered upper that alternates matte and semi-gloss synthetic materials. These contrasting textures evoke the rugged surfaces of natural landscapes, creating an “urban trail” sensibility.
The unisex silhouette retains GEL™ technology in the heel for enhanced shock absorption, while the trail-specific outsole ensures grip across varied terrains. TOGA’s signature metal conchos—an iconic detail of its collections—add a distinctive accent, complemented by an innovative dual-lacing system.
Evolving from the original 2014 GEL-CUMULUS™ 16, celebrated for its long-distance comfort, TOGA transforms a performance running shoe into a versatile lifestyle sneaker.
Available colorways include Grey/Black Pure Silver, and White/Metallic Silver/Red/Grey. TOGA Archives x Asics is now available at Antonia Sant'Andrea and online.
