NIKE'S 'STRANGER THINGS' COLLECTION
Nike footwear and brand logos pepper the third season of "Stranger Things”, the Netflix TV show set in 1985 in Hawkins, a small town in Indiana. It’s summer, school is finished, there's a brand-new mall in town, and the Hawkins crew are on the cusp of adulthood. Romance blossoms, friendships are cultivated and danger looms. As in the prior two seasons, a 1980s nostalgia characterizes the Hawkins scene, the same one that off-screen informs the Nike Stranger Things collection, highlighting the Cortez, Blazer and Tailwind.
The sporting world in 1985 was also undergoing a radical change. At Nike, 1985 marked the launch of the visible Air and of the iconic Dunk while the Cortez, Blazer and Tailwind remained sport and style staples, granting a timely authenticity to the Stranger Things collection.
The first drop of the collaborative capsule incorporates Hawkins High's green and orange color scheme and Tiger mascot into a spirited mix of apparel and footwear. Sweat suits and T-shirts channel 1980s class style with the three sneakers matched accordingly.
For the new release, dubbed the "OG Pack," each shoe features a red, white and blue color scheme in celebration of Independence Day in the year 1985. In detail, the three styles include the words the “Nike x Stranger Things” logo on the tongue label and “1985 July 4 fireworks at Hawkins Park” on the sockliner. The capsule is rounded out by Tees, hoodies, pants and cap.
