CARDI B IS THE FIRST FEMALE RAPPER TO WIN A GRAMMY
CARDI B MAKES HISTORY
“Oh, the nerves are so bad. Maybe I need to start smoking weed.” With these words Cardi B started her emotionally-charged speech after her 2018 hit album Invasion of Privacy won the Grammy for best rap album, making the Afro-Latina artist the first solo female rapper to win the statue.
She received the award next to rapper Offset, her husband and the father of her child. She also thanked her daughter and underlined how when she found out she was pregnant, her album was not complete, so she scrambled to finish it and shoot the videos while she still wasn’t showing, which meant plenty of long nights.
Cardi B also generated headline on the fashion front by wearing a vintage pink half shell dress, a 1995-96 Thierry Mugler couture look.
