Mega-star Rihanna and LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton are launching a Paris-based line together that includes ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories, under the Fenty logo.
The collection, which Rihanna will spearhead entirely, is poised to launch for Spring 2019. The undertaking marks the first new house launched by the world’s largest luxury group since the debut of Christian Lacroix in 1987.
The Barbados-born icon’s influence on the fashion world is renowned and well-documented, so Rihanna’s artistic vision for this project will be limitless.
According to WWD, which broke the news on the fact that a high-profile collaboration was underway back in January, LVMH had already selected a crop of employees from within, including some from Louis Vuitton and Celine, to work with Rihanna.
The high-profile daily newspaper also traces Rihanna’s liaison with LVMH back to 2015 when she attended the Christian Dior show and later appeared in “Secret Garden IV,” a campaign and short film shot by Steven Klein inside Versailles. RiRi also designed a range of futuristic sunglasses in collaboration with Dior as part of her brand ambassadorship.
