Last year was especially florid for Gucci in terms of buzzy collabs with special projects spanning from gaming and a limited-edition Xbox to tie-ups with Balenciaga and The North Face.
Always eager to expand its universe and veer into new grounds, the luxury house is now launching Supergucci with Superplastic, a global entertainment brand famous for creating and managing animated celebrities with millions of social media followers.
Janky and Guggimon are Superplastic’s hero characters, true virtual superstars, loved and followed as if they were real by millions of followers on Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
Now the two brands are further stepping into the metaverse world with the drop of an ultra-limited capsule of NFTs. From floral fantasies to trippy GG Supreme dreamscapes, the Superplastic characters enter new realms.
For the three-part series of NFTs, each with their own handcrafted porcelain sculpture, Janky and Guggimon combine their digital style with Gucci's historic codes. In the first release, the famous SuperJanky figure finds itself within ten different whimsical scenarios inspired by Gucci Aria.
