BALENCIAGA’S VIDEO GAME FOR NEXT WINTER

As the fashion system adjusts to the global rules aimed at stopping the spread of the pandemic, including bans on travel and fashion shows, Demna Gvasalia, Artistic Director of Balenciaga, chose a ground-breaking video game titled “Afterworld: The Age of Tomorrow,” to present his new FW 2021 collection. Set in the year 2031, the fantastical and allegorical adventure transports the viewer into the future with references to a mythological past. Thanks to the amazing technology for game hosting and cutting-edge photogrammetry, according to WWD “Afterworld” sets a record “for the largest volumetric video project ever undertaken.” In this context, a hero avatar moves through four different zones, surrounded by changing urban-to nature setting, peppered with a gaggle of male and female models/avatars clad in the newest pieces.
