DIOR LADY ART PROJECT

When art and fashion bond, the result is bound to be awe-inspiring. The Dior Lady Art project is the perfect testimony of how a crop of international artists have turned the Lady Dior bag into a different form of art. They include Athi-Patra Ruga, Rina Banerjee, Maria Nepomuceno, Mickalene Thomas, Jia Lee and Eduardo Terrazas, who customized the iconic style via a variety of hand-made techniques such as quilting, embroidery, patchwork and printing, drawing from cultures across the world. Other artists that lent their touch are Joana Vasconcelos, Marguerite Humeau, Kohei Nawa, Wang Guangle and Raqib Shaw. The eye-catching embellishments that make each statement bag an artwork in its own right range from pearls, crystals, metal flowers, glass and moon beads, alabaster, colorful feathers, hand-embroidered leaves and shells. The fourth edition of the capsule collection will be presented in November in Shanghai and during Art Basel Miami Beach in December. They will be available starting in January in selected stores and online.
