So, who exactly is Val Kristopher? Good question. For sure, a young visionary whose hot namesake brand quickly gained a cult following with its deconstructed, industrial approach and extreme distressing on apparel, especially denim. Launched in 2017, Val Kristopher immediately made waves by pushing into new grounds, by manipulating his pieces with anything from fire to paint to embroidery. Unsurprisingly, his collections sell out like hot cakes. Antonia Milano immediately picked out the potential of this cool, fledgling label, which in return customized the Issue #0005 drop in exclusive for our store. The project includes a pop-up installation and dedicated window displays running through April 6th. Kristopher has an instinctual and focused vision on redefining the idea of utility, one summed up in his mantra, “We don’t care about you, but we’ll take good care of you.” “We let the garment do it’s talking; how it naturally washes, how it’s naturally cuts, how it naturally folds,” says Kristopher. Indeed, every single piece is different in a one-of-a-kind sort of way. From the dye pigment to the last stitch, each one is unique. Based in Manchester, Kristopher contends he made his foray into fashion “out of an emotion to make people think, realise and reflect.” Waxing philosophical, the brand bio explains how the “label is solely about telling a story on why doing the “wrong” things the right way is the new correct direction, as this is the only way for you to find out who you really are as a human being."
