NEW BRAND: JACQUEMUS AND HIS “LA RIVIERA” COLLECTION

Fueled by the success of the first three collaborations, French brand Jacquemus has once again teamed up with The Woolmark Company for the SS 2019 collection called “La Riviera”. An artful mix of fabrics, textures and stitches form unexpected motifs while infusing a new freshness into knits. Silhouettes are free-flowing, with slit, spliced or fringed hems, while necklines range from halter to plunging to off-the-shoulder. Designer Simon Porte Jacquemus continues to use cool wool even in summer, fashioning the crisp and fresh fabric into breezy dresses and suits in a lively fruit salad palette, plus white and black. “These past few seasons, I’ve been lucky enough to collaborate with The Woolmark Company for the development of the use of wool in my collections, even for summer,” says Jacquemus. “My studio and the The Woolmark Company teams challenge each other to find innovations and manufacturers who fit the Jacquemus creative and commercial ethos: a quality product at a reasonable price, so that as many people as possible may afford my clothes. We’ve had fun creating wool pieces that were young, exciting, colorful.” Jacquemus was born in 1990, in Salon de Provence, South of France. At 18, he moved to Paris to study fashion but quit a month later, following his mother’s death. A year later, in 2009, he established his own brand as a tribute to his mother’s maiden name. In 2015, he won the LVMH Special Prize. In general, his collections are inspired by his native Provence, the Mediterranean region and the people of his life. Each collection tells a story filled with his memories, each catwalk is imbued with poetry, provoking an emotion that goes beyond the clothes.
