Founded on the principles of respect and curiosity for the natural world, for F/W 2020, Phipps embraces one of planet earth’s most pressing concerns: the conservation and protection of forests and woodlands from all types of destructive forces. Underscoring the incredible properties of trees, and their contribution to the planet, the label tributes their guardians such as park rangers and Celtic druids, exploring new characters in representations of masculinity in the current uncertain future. Hence familiar shapes appear in unexpected materials, including Piñatex pineapple leaf leather trims to plush Steiff wool tailoring and recycled feather down outerwear. Prints create a superimposed shadow land of forest montage while smocked shirts, fleece hoods and stud-lined denim are elevated with gothic romanticism.
