THE GUCCI “NO SPACE, JUST A PLACE” EXHIBITION
The project, which aims to support the rich cultural landscape and contemporary art scene in Seoul, seeks to offer a new definition of “other space” as a place where to build a different, desirable future with new ways of “being together” and of interacting with the surroundings. Especially in the current uncertain times, these alternative spaces become a utopian place where new empowering narratives unreel, dwelling on the understanding of otherness, the exploration of minoritarian identities and queer politics. Curated by Myriam Ben Salah, known for her radical aesthetic vision, No Space, Just A Place is propelled by Alessandro Michele’s meditations on society: the ethical and aesthetic value of the relationships between genres and gender, the notion of learnscapes, the urgency of self-expression.
In a sort of neutral “white box” that covers three floors, the display features a selection of independent art spaces, including audio Visual Pavilion, Boan1942, d/p, Hapjungjigu, OF and Post Territory, each revealing a project conceived in a dialogue with the curator.
