COURREGES: RAVE PARTY ON THE BEACH

In his four seasons at Courrèges, artistic director Nicolas Di Felice has succeeded in artfully spinning the house’s legacy into Gen Z desirability by reimagining iconic Space Age styles such as the trapeze dress, the vinyl jacket, and bug-eye sunglasses. Between legacy and currency, for spring Di Felice veered towards a more casual beachy feel drifting from lazy waterfront moments to the morning after a rave party on the sand. Melding artisanship with technology, there is a dialogue between Courrèges’ archetypal shapes and experimentation, between couture precision and the raw. Revealing and concealing, innovative and timeless - the designer certainly knows how to make his young partygoers leave a mark.
