TRES GAULTIER – DECODING AN ICON

With the Très Gaultier collection, creative director Florence Tétier delved into the Maison’s archives and, for the first time ever, revitalized the legendary French designer's unique game-changing styles and distinctive signatures to achieve a contemporary feel.
The Jean Paul Gaultier archives capture a historic fashion heritage that spans over 50 years and continue to inspire the House with the avant-garde spirit of its founder. Drawing from the signature silhouettes, such as Madonna’s infamous corset dated 1990, this new project moves away from re-editions to reinterpret the brand's codes and project them onto its modern wardrobe.

“This collection does not reproduce the iconic Gaultier pieces but, rather, offers modern interpretations of the Maison’s archetypes. With Très Gaultier, I wanted to question our basics and adapt them to the social and aesthetic mutations that have taken place since their creation. Through these completely new silhouettes that form a complete wardrobe, one can fully imagine who the Gaultier person is and what their desires are in terms of fashion and belonging.” – Florence Tétier, creative director of Jean Paul Gaultier.
